Hi, I’m Zak,
My philosophy is – “Your Body is trying to tell you something”. I grew up during a time when painkillers and muscle relaxers became the standard for pain management. The Western, American philosophy became, “If you feel pain, just stop feeling altogether. Problem Solved” or, “Your pain simply cannot be trusted. you need to fight through it”. I needed to do something! That’s why I had to create ESOTONE, and develop my own strategy I call Deep Stretch Therapy.
I was born at Mercy hospital down the road from my house here in Sacramento, CA. My dad has been on the forefront of homeopathic medicine and natural health in Sacramento for more than 30 years through his practice called “Health Associates”. I’ve been in the field of sports massage in Sacramento since 2014, and opened my practice right before the world stopped in 2020.
I believe massage therapy is the future of sports medicine. Massage has transformed many of my client’s lives, drastically improved my fitness, and will continue to be the preferred modality among those who seek a genuine solution to their physical ailments.
My work is based in posture, gate patterns, and myofascial tensegrity patterns. I measure progress with a posture chart when necessary, but my main focus is to get the client moving the way they need to move. My most frequently used modalities of choice are ART, MFT, PNF stretching, Acupressure, and vibration. However, I’m always seeking to learn new things. As long as it helps answer my overall question, “Why does my body feel the way it does? What does my body need?”.
As a young athlete, my instincts led me to massage. I excelled in massage school, and quickly found myself working directly in my chosen field of study. It was at a startup gym with a holistic approach. In my two years as the sole manual therapist on staff, I was able to test and expand my philosophies on massage and the human body/brain, while helping the gym grow by about 300% and venture into their new identity.
Those experiences were important, and helped shape me to some degree, but by far, my best teacher was my own body. If I ever have a spot that feels like it needs pressure, or an area that needs releasing, I first practice the technique on myself so I can have full control and truly understand how the release works, and what it’s supposed to feel like for the client. As a result, all of my techniques are replicable with just a small ball and a roller. I think anyone who wants to feel better, can with this foundational knowledge! Your body just wants steady pressure and deep relaxed breathing.
I volunteer for events like farmer’s markets and marathons, teach group self massage classes, and am available for personal massage therapy sessions. My business is called ESOTONE, and we are located in the Sacramento, Arden Area. If you’d like to set up your own appointment, send me a personal message, or learn more about me, scroll down and you’ll find my resumé along with a contact form.
